Type the obvious word, then the one almost nobody says. A new pair of categories every UTC day.
Moonshot Daily is a free word round on Waffle Games. You do not swap letters on a grid. You type one answer to a category, and the board scores it by how ordinary or unusual that word is. The first half of a flight wants the answer most people would shout. The second half wants a real member of the same category that almost nobody types first.
The board above is this site's own flight. Thirty categories and their answers are stored in the page. At each UTC midnight the game picks a new pair from that bank, so you do not edit the page to change the daily question. The same pair comes back after those thirty have each had a turn in the rotation. Practice pair deals a different drill and does not replace the daily flight.
Waffle asks which letter is already in the wrong square. Moonshot Daily asks whether you know the difference between a common answer and a rare one. Players who only practice one of those skills get fast at the wrong decision: a clever kitchen tool is the right Blue Moon answer and the wrong common answer.
A full Common vs Blue Moon flight is six turns, split across the day's two categories. The Ladder is shorter: four spins, and each spin names the rarity rung you have to land on. Friends on the Ladder do not share rungs, because the spin is part of the round.
Round 1 gives you 15 seconds. The most common word in that category is worth 100. The second is 70, the third is 45, ranks four and five are 25, and anything further down the list is 8. A top-three hit arms the combo.
Round 2 gives you 30 seconds and flips the table. Common pays 5, uncommon 20, rare 40, legendary 60, mythic 80, and blue moon 100. If you answer in the second half of the clock, that payout is cut to 70 percent. The Ladder uses the same rarity steps, but the target is exact: on the rung pays 100, one rung off pays 40, two off pays 15, and a wider miss pays 5.
A word that is not on this flight's list scores 0. The score does not go backward. Repeating a word you already logged on that category is rejected so you can try another before the bar runs out.
The prompt says Common or Blue Moon, or it names a Ladder rung. Read that line first. "Desk" is a strong classroom answer when the common slot pays 100. It is a weak one when Blue Moon pays 100 and Common pays 5.
After a top-three hit, or a Mythic or Blue Moon, the next answer is worth one and a half times. Use a word you can type without deleting. The clock does not pause while you backspace, and a miss clears the boost.
If you cannot hit the named rung, a neighbor still pays 40. A wild guess from the other end of the list pays 5. One step off is a real result. Three steps off is a wasted spin.
Practice pair draws a different two categories so you can rehearse the switch. It does not change today's daily flight, and it does not publish a new word list. The daily button always returns to the UTC pair.
Only words stored for that category score. A clever synonym that is not on the board is a miss, even if it belongs in real life. If the log says "not on this list," pick another member of the category instead of retyping the same string.
Thirty categories are already in the page, from classroom and kitchen through fruit, vehicles, instruments, planets, and board games. Two of them are live each UTC day. The bank itself changes only when this page is edited. The round is keyboard and touch. There is no click-to-drift control. Launch sends the word in the box.
